that month is the annual Grand Quacker Duck river race
where thousands of rubber ducks are raced down the Grand
River for fun and to raise money for charity. The race
has plenty of games, music and activities for the whole

| Great Lakes Kite Festival |

| This
event boasts some of the largest kites in the world, exhibitions by a national champion stunt flying team,
fighter kites, kite ballet, kite flying lessons/seminars
and open flying fields for the public. Additionally,
there is a Family Fun Tent to benefit Children’s
Leukemia Foundation of Michigan filled with interactive
activities such as carnival games, arts and crafts,
giant inflatables (moon walk and obstacle course) and
much more. |

a visit to the city’s famed Musical Fountain
with its synchronized dancing water and light show.
Performances go on once everyday starting at 9:50 and 10:10 pm (depending on the time of the year)
from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Musical Fountain
also does shows on Saturday and Sunday evenings in
May and September. |

Largest
outdoor musical fountain:
Grand Haven, Michigan, has the largest Musical Fountain
in the world. Built in 1962 on the Grand River near
downtown, the popular summertime attraction features
a synchronized light, music and dancing water show every
evening during the summer. The fountain can perform
more than 3,000 commands each show with 3,000 distinct water movements that make the
fountain water dance to the music of the evening. |

bands bogey up the summer months in Grand Haven
Michigan with dances scheduled every Wednesday evening
at the city’s Waterfront Stadium. Also on during
the summer, the stadium features national jazz artists
making their music. The best part is the concerts are

Festival in the parks of downtown where artists
from the area and from across the country set up displays

summer highlight is the annual Coast Guard Festival
honoring the U.S. Coast Guard base in Grand Haven Michigan
with parades, a midway, entertainment and street dancing.
In September, the city hosts the Grand Haven Kite Surfing
contest and the huge Anchorage Cup sailboat race. And,
don’t for get the Salmon and Song Fest in Grand
Haven. It’s a weekend packed with entertainment,
gourmet salmon cooking and lots of fun. |

Coast
Guard City U.S.A: By an act of Congress,
Grand Haven Michigan was designated
Coast Guard City, USA on Nov. 13, 1998. The bill,
signed by President William Jefferson Clinton, was
given to the city in recognition for its eight decades
of honoring the U.S. Coast Guard and personnel with
an annual midsummer festival, one of the largest
civilian sponsored military festivals in the country
during the first weekend in August.

is just up the road at nearby Great Lakes Downs, the

throughout the year including murder mystery trains
and the Santa Train. |
